Available Slack connectors
Glean supports the following Slack connectors:- Slack Real Time Search (RTS): The recommended connector for new deployments and the long‑term standard. This connector utilizes Slack’s Real Time Search (RTS) APIs to fetch messages dynamically at query time.
- Slack: Reserved for existing deployments that have secured specific rate-limit exceptions from Slack for older API versions.
Which connector should I use?
Use the following guidance when deciding which connector to deploy:| Deployment Type | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| New deployments | If you are setting up Slack for the first time, use Slack Real Time Search. This is the recommended and supported approach for all new organizations to ensure compliance with modern API standards. |
| Existing deployments | If you currently use the legacy Slack connector, you should plan a transition to Slack Real Time Search ahead of the March 3 Slack API transition. Effective March 3, Slack is implementing significant updates to its Web API rate limits. Without an RTS configuration or a verified exception from Slack, search performance may be impacted by these new thresholds. |
| Unsure of your status? | If you are unclear which connector is active or whether your organization holds a Slack rate-limit exception, contact your Glean representative before modifying your configuration. |
