The Glean calendar search action allows you to search and retrieve events from supported calendars and perform tasks based on scheduled events. This action currently supports:
  • Google calendar
  • Microsoft Outlook calendar
The actual tasks you can perform with the calendar search action vary based on the calendar you’re using. For information on supported tasks, refer to the Calendar Search Actions Setup article of the Admin documentation.

Google Calendar

The Glean calendar search action allows you to search and retrieve events from supported calendars and perform tasks based on scheduled events. This action currently supports Google calendar.

Usage Examples

After you have set up the Google Calendar connector, you can:
  • Query calendar events in Glean Chat: Ask questions about your past and upcoming calendar events directly in Assistant.
  • Retrieve calendar events using Agent Builder: Build agents that search and retrieve calendar data.
  • Find meetings in Search: Search for Google Calendar events and transcripts within Glean Search.
  • Use Meeting Summarization on Glean Home page: Summarize meetings to understand key decisions and action items. Limitation: Follow-up queries through the summarization modal are currently unsupported.
In Glean Chat, calendar search is only available in Thinking mode and not in Fast mode.

Configuration

PrerequisitesBefore you can use the calendar search action with agents, data crawling and indexing must be set up for Google Calendar connectors.
Enable calendar search in an agent:
  1. Go to the Glean app.
  2. Select Agents and click Create Agent.
  3. Select the step of an agent.
  4. Search and select the Calendar Search action.
  5. Provide a natural language input (e.g., “Search for my next meeting with John”) or a search operator input (e.g., after:now before:2025-04-29).
To retrieve exhaustive calendar results, set Number of Results to As many as possible. The default setting is Let AI decide.

Outlook Calendar

The Outlook calendar search action allows you to search and retrieve events from supported calendars and perform tasks based on scheduled events. This action currently supports Outlook calendar through a Microsoft metered API.

Usage Examples

After you have set up the Teams transcript connector, you can:
  • Query calendar events in Glean Chat: Ask questions about your past and upcoming calendar events directly in Assistant.
  • Retrieve calendar events using Agent Builder: Build agents that search and retrieve calendar data.
  • Find meetings in Search: Search for Outlook calendar events and transcripts within Glean Search. Use an operator query such as app:msteams to search Outlook calendar events.
  • Use Meeting Summarization on Glean Home page: Summarize meetings to understand key decisions and action items. Limitation: Follow-up queries through the summarization modal are currently unsupported.
In Glean Chat, calendar search is only available in Thinking mode and not in Fast mode.
